- the white
grape of the upper Loire Valley and Sancerre, and second cousin to Chardonnay
throughout California - is finding a real home on the North Fork of Long Island.
Fresh and sprightly, with a flinty and steely edge giving way to a pleasant grassiness,
these three are deliciously drinkable wines that herald the soft, sweet days
of summer picnics sitting by the sea.
A richer style of SB with flavors of citrus and spice, hints
of olives and a soft, melon-y mouthfeel.
Crisp yet smooth at the same time, with bright citrus flavors
mingling with melons and tropical fruits, and a rich mouthfeel.
Full nose of lychee nuts, a flinty, smoky Sauvignon Blanc
reminiscent of Sancerre.
Notable in that they have recently received significant
recognition for quality and food friendliness.
Seneca Lake Gold Medal Winner - New World International Wine
Competition
Blackberry and Juniper aromas evolve to black cherry flavors with velvety tannins
and a lingering fruity finish.
Long Island Reviewed as Editor's Choice and rated an "88"
in the April Issue of Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Harvested in late October, this
estate grown Cabernet Franc is reminiscent of those produced in the Loire region
of France. It has bright cherry flavors with hints of leather.
Keuka Lake Double Gold Medal Winner - Florida State Wine Competition
Rich & fruity, underpinned by a generous amount of smoky oak; Nice structured
tannins penetrating ripe cherry nuances.
There may be no better region in the world for consistently
producing great late harvest wines than New York where the weather is dependable,
and the vineyards are mature. (And New Yorkers have always had a bit of a sweet
tooth.) When select grapes are left to hang on the vine late into the season,
the grapes become dried and shriveled, highly concentrated with sugar and affected
by Botrytis - the so-called "noble rot" responsible for the distinctive character
of the great sweet wines of Sauternes, Germany, and Hungary. The viscous, sugar-concentrated
juice is fermented to produce a sweet, elegant and powerfully evocative libation
that gains wisdom and potency with age.
