The characteristic trait of the muscat grape is its
sweet, "musky" flavor. Muscat grapes are grown around the world in temperate
climates such as Italy, France, Greece, Spain, California and most recently,
and to great acclaim, New York. In addition to being eaten out of hand and made
into raisins, the Muscat grape is used to make a variety of fragrant wines.
Cayuga Lake
A real original from Swedish Hill. Luscious, semi-sweet and exceptionally fruity,
this wine was partially made from Late Harvested grapes and has the honey aromas
that would you expect along with incredible fruit intensity.
Extremely unusual wine for the Finger Lakes and a
gold medal winner. Made in a semi-dry style with fantastic fruit and citrus overtones.
Long Island
A deliciously off-dry sparkling Muscat. With pleasing of bursting fresh grapes.
A winery favorite.
Soft and warm on the palate, Merlot has the advantage
of being rich and supple but only moderately tannic and, therefore, wonderfully
drinkable from early on. The Merlot grape produces wine with a chewy, almost
opulent texture. Although it does not have the same firm Back to previous pagebone
and structure of a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot yields a sensual, round wine. The
most critically acclaimed Merlots are dark, rich and strong with aromas that
include scents of plums, black cherry, toffee, chocolate, violets, orange and
tea. Here is one each from the three major wine-growing regions of New York.
Long Island
100% Merlot, Firm and earthy with a rich and elegant quality and fleshy gobs
of dark cherry fruit. Hints of dill, eucalyptus and finishes with ripe tannins.
Finger Lakes
Aromas of ripe black cherries and plums, bright fruit flavors and hints of vanilla,
rounded out by soft tannins.
Hudson Valley
Silky smooth, yet full bodied with a judicious amount of oak to balance the subtle
fruit.
Ghosts and goblins abound this time of year, so we've
created this selection in the "spirit" of the season (and in honor of our Hallo-Wine
weekend on October 27 & 28). As the Count said after his intended victim
cried out "have a heart!" he said "don't mind if I do." And as you can see, even
Halloween is Red, White and Blue this year!
Hudson Valley
Made from Nocturnally Harvested grapes, this "Blood-Red" wine is rich and sweeter
- bursting with berry and jam flavors. Made from a centuries old blending recipe,
we call it "the wine of the vine that refuses to die!"
Finger Lakes
A semi-dry, exquisitely fruity, blend of Vidal Blanc and Cayuga White. Perfectly
balanced to accompany a wide variety of foods and please most any palate. But
you will find no Eyes of Newt in this potion.
Finger Lakes
Made from blueberries grown in Oswego, New York. Hand crafted with a gentle
touch to retain the blueberry flavor. A lusciously semi-sweet wine for nocturnal
"scientific" experiments.
